MobileIron and Pulse Secure to be acquired by Ivanti

MobileIron and Pulse Secure announced an acquisition today by Ivanti

MobileIron, the mobile-centric device management provider has announced an agreement to be acquired by Ivanti Inc in a deal valued at about $872 Million!

Salt Lake City-based Ivanti is well known in the IT Enterprise as a security provider. Will now be making the jump into Enterprise Device Management with this purchase.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS!

Ivanti didn't just add one item to their cart... today's announcement also included another company, PULSE SECURE!

Picking up Pulse Secure puts this EMM / MDM in direct competition with VMware's Workspace ONE Tunnel - allowing per-app, remote desktops, network drives, and secure browsing. Configurable from ONE console. A MOBILITY ENGINEER'S DREAM!

I like how this Ivanti merger is calling the Digital Workplace transformation "#EverywhereEnterprise." I wish I thought of that and acquired the domains!

As seen with Apple's purchase of Fleetsmith, the future is a one-stop provider of Hardware, Management, Support, and Security...

Dell already has a big lead with its hardware and controlling interest in VMware (AirWatch / Workspace ONE) and its support contracts, Apple will be integrating Fleetsmith, and I am calling it now - Ivanti will work with or acquire a hardware brand. To be honest, I would keep it all inhouse to start and roll out MobileIron Chromebooks to small business and education. A pact with Samsung would be very interesting! I've only seen Dell, HP, or IBM / Lenovo in the enterprise. If Samsung could get a great business support channel, They could get in on a full-service PC, Phone, Tablet, Security, and Support offering.
