Omnissa's OMNI out of Beta!

Fresh out the Box, it's Omni - The AI helper!

I remember when I was just starting to learn device management with AirWatch, Analyst or other entry level titles are quickly tasked to do reporting - ugh!

At this time, the Reports tab had a bunch of reports that I could download or schedule to email myself or anyone who needed it:
Old AirWatch reports interface - Via PC Mag

This is when I learned that I should not have Excel on my resume (back when you individually listed all of Microsoft's Suite to impress the Hiring Manager). Depending on the size of your environment, this page would create a huge spreadsheet with raw data. I am thankful for the co-workers that taught me how to make pivot tables and macros... Also that YouTube started moving from cat videos to software tutorials.

Overtime, reports got deprecated. It went from 100+ report templates down to 20 or so. It was not until about 5 years ago when I started working with my current employer, I started learning MySQL and started generating my own reports.

I would start getting random request:
  • What percentage of iPhones are on the current OS
  • Make a chart with every Android device and OS
  • Send compliance a daily email with firmware build information
  • List every device using a license for a paid app
This was on top of my other duties, maintaining the environment by browsing the VMware (now Omnissa) Tech Zone for solutions before putting in a ticket.

I would WISH for an intern or assistant... years later, Omni is the answer!

Omni is Omni-ssa's (get it?) new AI Assistant. This month it moved from Beta to General Availability (GA).

According to the Introducing Omni Guided Tour, located on Omnissa's Tech Zone, The AI-powered assistant is available for more than just Omnissa Intelligence but also the following consoles:
Although Omni is GA, it needs to be enabled. This is by design. Omnissa's AI Program Overview goes over the use and governances for AI and Gen AI systems and the company's AI Rules and Ethics.

I appreciate that they are following the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF).

Why is Omni a game changer?
Searching documentation can be tedious. How long should you search before putting in a support ticket? With Omni inside Omnissa Connect, Omni's Knowledge Seach Tool will search Omnissa's very own KBAs, Knowledge Base Articles.

Even so, the chat agent says "AI-generated content. Verify responses" at the bottom of the textbox, thankfully Omni will give you a source:

Also this is huge for customers of Omnissa Intelligence. If I had this years ago, I could quickly ask Omni to gather information for me

Omni gives the answer and includes a link to the Data Explorer

Omni is even aware of context if you ask a follow up question

This is just the surface, you can dive even deeper, here is a prompt from the YouTube Demo insides of Intelligence's Data Explorer

It creates the filter for you including the time span

And Boom, a chart and data ready for you to export!

And finally, You can instantly create a Report, Widget, or Work Flow

I love visuals! Widgets for everything, please!
