G Suite & Apple Business Manager

G Suite & Apple Business Manager

This morning, I got an email from Google which linked me to their new blog post "Safety first: Announcing 11 new G Suite security features." This article has a lot of great topics but the one that stuck out to me was the part about a new integration with Apple Business Manager:

We’re also launching our integration with Apple Business Manager (formerly DEP) to provide G Suite Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise Essentials, Cloud Identity Premium, and G Suite Enterprise for Education admins the ability to simply and securely distribute and manage company-owned Apple iOS devices.
This comes on the heels of Apple buying Fleetsmith, an Apple-centric MDM. With this integration, users of G Suite Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise Essentials, Cloud Identity Premium, and G Suite Enterprise for Education will be able to manage the Apple App Store just like the can manage the Google Play Store for Android and Chrome devices.

This also means that admins/engineers will be able to provide a zero-touch setup for Mac, Apple TV and iOS devices. I am all about a unified console and direct fulfillment of devices straight to the end-user - connect to the internet, sign in, and go! These long time features from Jamf and VMware's Workspace ONE will allow companies to start to explore Apple devices a complete solution.

G Suite has been making big moves in management, a few months ago, G Suite moved Windows 10 management out of beta.
